WATT seminar sponsored by DuPont - 'Antibiotic-free broiler production isn’t a niche market anymore'

A distinguished panel of poultry professionals including Perdue Farm’s Dr Bruce Stewart-Brown, Dr Stephen Collett of the University of Georgia, DuPont’s Dr Gregory Siragusa and Richard Kottmeyer, MD of Strategic will discuss the factors causing some restaurant chains and major poultry retail brands to go antibiotic-free, and the steps poultry integrators are taking to meet these claims. The discussion will be presented in English and the moderator will be WATT's content director of agri-business, Terrence O'Keefe.

5:30 p.m.: Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres

6 – 7 p.m.: Roundtable discussion - Antibiotic-free broiler production isn’t a niche market anymore

 Questions that will be addressed:

  • Have consumer attitudes changed to antibiotic-free claims for poultry?
  • What are the impacts on the industry of reduced AGP?
  • Are there real substitutes for sub-therapeutic antibiotics in development or on the market, or will growing programs have to rely more on better nutrition, sanitation, management and vaccination programs?
  • When the revisions to the Veterinary Feed Directive take effect, what impacts will we see on how poultry meat birds are raised in the U.S.?

7 – 7:30 p.m.: Question and answer session with panelists

7:30 p.m.: Dinner
